FlatWorld is a Boston-based publisher of digital and print textbooks that are the same quality as those from legacy publishers, but sell at a fraction of the cost. The company was founded in 2007 by former Pearson employees. It was acquired in 2016 by Alastair Adam and John Eielson, who now serve as Co-CEOs. In 2016, they relocated FlatWorld from DC to Boston. FlatWorld just announced that faculty at more than 1,400 institutions are now using a FlatWorld textbook. In terms of his previous entrepreneurial roles, in 2002 Alastair cofounded the Callidon Group, an M&A consulting firm, which he sold in 2008.
